The Night Animals - Meet the Players

The Playwright

Kate Rich has a passion for exploring human conflict on stage. She has had several of her plays workshopped in the Valdez Theatre Conference and hosts “New Plays Aloud,” a monthly group in Homer that reads contemporary work.

The Director

Jennifer Norton is a life-long Pier One Theatre participant. She grew up in this theatre and now is honored to serve as its Executive Director. Past directing projects include Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Much Ado About Nothing, Pride and Prejudice, Chicago, & Spamalot. This is the smallest cast she has ever directed!

The Cast

Ingrid Harrald

Ingrid Harrald has been a huge fan of Pier One Theatre since she moved to Homer 20 years ago. She enjoys most plays from the audience, but occasionally she is inspired to join on stage. This is one of those occasions. There is so much joy found in performing a play like this from an inspiring local playwright, Kate Rich. Playing Leah has helped her grow as an actor and a person. She thanks you for supporting local theater and local playwrights!

Reece Cowan

Most everyone has a moment that changes the course of their life. For some it's love, others it's trauma. For me, Reece Cowan, it was the Pier One stage. It's only been three years since I entered stage left for the first time and I've been enthralled like a deer in stage-lights ever since. I'm so happy to leave Homer with this as one of my last performances with Pier One. It was short and sweet. But it was the spoonful of sugar to help the medicine I needed go down. Thanks for everything.

Cara Long

Cara Long lives in Anchor Point, Alaska. She is a mother of 9 and grandmother of 14. Night Animals is her first opportunity to participate with the amazing community of actors here in Homer. Cara loves her quirky sense of humor and ability to riff off of others. Thanks for this opportunity, Jennifer Norton.

Tom Custer

Tom Custer is delighted to be at Jen Norton’s direction and happy to be working with such a wonderful cast. He’s been tinkering with directing Kieran Lynn’s play, An Incident at the Border. Come and see it! He promises not to catch COVID this time!
