Val Sheppard

OFFICE ASSISTANT

Val was born and raised in Homer and has been involved in the local arts scene for about the same length of time. She got her start with Pier One Theatre through their summer youth programs and after a bit of time off due to shifting priorities (as well as the demands of school) she returned to Pier One with a vengeance in her early 20s and hasn’t missed a summer since. In addition to directing numerous plays for Pier One, including Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Glengarry Glen Ross, Waiting for Godot, Stage Kiss, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, and most recently, Ken Ludwig’s Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood, Val has acted quite a lot as well and some of her favorite roles include: Vladimir in Waiting for Godot, Sir Lancelot in Spamalot, one half of the titular duo (she can’t quite remember which one) in Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, the reverend T. Lawrence Shannon in The Night of the Iguana, Murray in The Odd Couple, Dogberry in Much Ado About Nothing, Sagot in Picasso at the Lapin Agile, and as herself (more or less) in The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). Additionally, she has appeared in the ensembles for the musicals Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago, and was also most recently the understudy for Lefou in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. In 2022 she was hired by Pier One Theatre to be their office assistant and has felt right at home ever since. She’s deeply grateful for all the opportunities Pier One has given her over the years and she hopes that you will continue to support this organization and its endeavors into the future.
