Pier One and COVID-19

As we work together to combat the furious rise of COVID-19, our community is taking a break from social gatherings. That means no live theatre in the near future. As a safety precaution, the Pier One Theatre Board of Directors has decided to suspend the summer season in the warehouse on the spit. Our planned 2020 season will be moved to 2021.

This does not mean we will not be making theatre. Standby for surprise opportunities in 2020! Rather than live, in person productions, we will instead spend this year on smaller projects, radio theatre, podcasting, online content, public domain material (maybe in the park!), virtual script reading, and other ideas that occur to us. Our Youth Theatre programs are moving online. This is an opportunity to gather ourselves, work on the archives, and plan for the future.

Storytelling and connection remain an essential part of our everyday life, and theatre brings us together whether we are in our living rooms or on the stage. Thank you for being a part of this wonderful tradition.

We will return to the stage as soon as it is safe to do so.
