“MOMologues” Call for “Mom” Performers
PIER ONE THEATRE and KACHEMAK BAY FAMILY PLANNING CLINIC
SEEKING PERFORMERS FOR “MOMOLOGUES”, December 17, 2022
“MOMologues” is a live performance produced and directed by Pier One Theatre on Saturday, December 17th, at 7:30PM hosted by Bunnell Street Arts Center. The program is 21+ and benefits Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic and Pier One Theatre.
In partnership with Pier One Theatre and Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic, “MOMologues” is a one-evening live performance, co-directed by Jennifer Norton and Mercedes O’Leary, in conjunction with the visual arts exhibit, “MOTHER” at Bunnell Street Arts Center. The performance is based on the newly released book, The Momologue Collective: An Anthology by Self-Identifying Mothers gathered by multidisciplinary artist Brianna Allen.
“MOMologues” demonstrates how one artist’s social art practice can create a symbiotic relationship for storyteller and performer. Witness personal confessions become communal anthems. The performance and book are inspired by The Momologue Collective, a platform for self-identifying mothers to contribute anonymous and true short-stories about motherhood. The project’s mission is to build community through storytelling and to stimulate new work by artists.
Pier One Theatre is an inclusive organization whose mission is to create, promote, and share the performing arts for and with lower Kenai Peninsula communities and beyond.
Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic is a member-supported organization that provides broad access to reproductive health care services and education in a supportive and empowering environment.
Brianna Allen is a multidisciplinary artist living and working on Ninilchik Tribal lands currently known as Homer, Alaska. She holds BFA in Painting and Entrepreneurial Studies from the University of Southern Maine. Brianna works within themes of motherhood and is led by her social art practice of anonymous community storytelling.
