Kate Rich collaborates with Pier One Theatre in Homer, Alaska as a playwright and playwriting workshop facilitator. She says “I write intimate, character-driven plays that explore power, belonging, and the quiet moments where people choose who they are. I’m drawn to dialogue that invites audiences to lean in rather than be told what to feel.” Her work has been selected several times for the Valdez Theatre Conference, and her plays “The Night Animals” and “The Creel” have been performed through Pier One. She also hosts “New Plays Aloud,” a group that meets monthly in Homer to read and discuss contemporary plays. Kate is a strong advocate for contemporary works, and encourages everyone to try writing a play.
